Andrea Howe is married to Steve and has four children and six grandchildren.

Andrea has been pursuing her alone inward journey spiritually for many years and has found an expression of this in St Francis Scete in Swindon.

She has a wealth of experience in working with children, young people and families and continues to discover God through the eyes of those she meets.

Andrea is as happy out of church as in church, for God is everywhere.

Andrea, together with Steve, has been searching for an expression of spirituality to help people to know themselves and God for many years.

This summarises her philosophy on life: Quote: “Life is amazing, then it’s awful and then it’s amazing again . And in between the awful and amazing it’s ordinary and mundane and routine. Breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful ,and relax and exhale during the ordinary. That’s just living heartbreaking, soul healing , amazing ,awful ordinary life. And it’s breathtakingly beautiful .’ LR Knost

Revd Steve Howe was ordained as a Baptist Minister in 1994 and has worked as a Youth Pastor, Associate Pastor and Church Leader in Church Plants and Independent Churches for over 25 years.

As a Church Leader he first met the family of Monos in 1994 and has worked closely alongside Ant and the Grimley family since then. During this period of time Steve has always believed that the New Monastic movement has gifts and lessons to offer society and the church today.  He has worked hard to help translate some of these aspects of new monastic life & teachings into present day discipleship and ecumenical church life resources.

Steve became a Director of Monos in 2015 and has worked with Ant to help shape the teaching and education resources that Ant has worked hard to develop as Ant finishes his PhD.  These resource’s will be made available shortly through the launch of the new Monos website.

Steve also brings his management skills and experience to the family of Monos and is looking forward to helping develop, oversee alongside Ant, some very exciting new initiatives as Monos continues to develop and bring hope to the ‘changing landscape’ of society and church life today.

Steve, with his wife Andrea are based in Swindon and live in a Community Skete called – St Francis Scete.

The Backbone of Our community

This is not a story of a community, family or even a married couple; it is a short story of the birth of a ‘Way for Living’. In 1988, a dream was planted in Kevin and Ellen Grimley that they would set up a house in the Midlands, a safe place where people could visit and take time to find themselves and to seek God.

Their time spent at the Northumbria Community started to contextualise their call to finding a ‘real God’ as individuals in community living and a deep capacity for hospitality. In being, their doing was becoming authentically entwined. In this way, the capacity for true human selfless relationship was becoming realised.

We hope that this little ‘Way for Living’ that follows may help others who are called to a similar Way, or who find themselves in exile, grief, searching or adversity and prosperity through accountability or commitment.
